Newly developed DermaTherapy® bedding cleared by the FDA
as a treatment for atopic dermatitis
GREENSBORO, NC – APRIL 3, 2007: The estimated 15 million Americans
who suffer symptoms of atopic dermatitis now have a new weapon in
their fight against this chronic skin disease. Bed linens made with
a specially developed fabric technology have just received 510(k)
clearance from the Food and Drug Administration as a Class I medical
device for treatment of the itchy, inflamed skin that characterizes
mild atopic dermatitis, which is the most common form of eczema.
The new bed linens, developed by Precision Fabrics Group Inc. of
Greensboro, NC, will be marketed under the DermaTherapy® trade name.
DermaTherapy fabrics also have a durable antimicrobial treatment
that helps maintain freshness by eliminating odors on the fabric
caused by germs and bacteria.
